Five years ago, Seattle adopted a Bicycle Master Plan. It aims to triple the amount of bicycling in Seattle by the year 2017. But until just a few months ago, there was no way to accurately count cyclists. That’s changing.

The morning routine has irrevocably changed for thousands of Seattle coffee drinkers. A popular barista at Espresso Vivaci, Brian Fairbrother, died yesterday from head injuries sustained in a bicycle accident last month. He was 50.

Volunteers needed for annual count of bicyclists and pedestrians

It's become an autumn tradition: the annual survey of bicyclists and pedestrians in Washington. For the fourth year in a row, volunteers are needed to help the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and Cascade Bicycle Club take a statistical snapshot of the number of people who get around by walking and biking.
