MOHAI http://kplu.org en How do you move a four-ton street clock? http://kplu.org/post/how-do-you-move-four-ton-street-clock <p>The <a href="http://www.historyismoving.org/">Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI)</a> is in the process of moving from Seattle&rsquo;s Montlake neighborhood to the Armory building in South Lake Union.</p><p>MOHAI has been around for nearly 60 years, and some people call it &ldquo;Seattle&rsquo;s attic.&rdquo; It has a huge collection of historical objects from the Puget Sound region.</p><p>The museum has transported over 50,000 pieces already, and not all of them fit inside a box.</p><p>Here are just a few of the things they&#39;ve moved:</p> Thu, 09 Aug 2012 12:00:00 +0000 Lindsay Lowe 5934 at http://kplu.org How do you move a four-ton street clock? But heavy or not, it’s my attempt at making a fashon statement. It’s the color of a tangerine.</p><p>Walk into the galleries at Seattle’s Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI)and it’s impossible not to size up your purse.</p><blockquote><p>Over here, from the '30s, a bag made out of Bakelite is the color of butterscotch. And from the 1990s, stylish Prada and Kate Spade bags.</p></blockquote><p>There’s a century’s worth of purses, made out of sealskin, clam shells, cantaloupe seeds, even cigarette wrappers and aluminum can tabs.
