Marijuana Legalization
State and federal officials discussing Wash. marijuana law
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and state Attorney General Bob Ferguson are meeting with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Tuesday in Washington, D.C., to talk about the state's legal marijuana law.
Inslee and Ferguson plan to tell reporters about the meeting in an afternoon conference call.
And on Tuesday night in Olympia, the Liquor Control Board is holding the first public hearing on rules that will govern legal marijuana sales.
Voters approved the law in November as Initiative 502. It legalizes the possession of up to an ounce of marijuana and calls for state-licensed marijuana growers, processers and retail stores.
More public forums on planned regulations are set for Thursday in Seattle, Feb. 7 in Vancouver, Feb. 12 in Spokane, Feb. 19 in Mount Vernon and Feb. 21 in Yakima.
