Traffic help for the holidays

As we all know, during a holiday weekend we have to prepare for more traffic. 

To help plan your weekend driving, The State Department of Transportation has released a report on the worst predicted travel times. For the most part, traffic should be the heaviest today and Monday, when people will probably leave or come home from their holiday celebrations.

Christmas Eve and Christmas are expected to have the lightest traffic, although I-5 from Olympia to Tacoma could be bad later on Christmas Eve. Another exception could be in Seattle, where the Seahawks game on Saturday afternoon will likely cause some congestion.

But good news to those of you planning to head over the mountains and through the woods; the traffic over Snoqualmie Pass is expected to be lighter during the Christmas holiday than Thanksgiving. Westbound I-90 over Snoqualmie pass is expected to be the worst between 3 and 6 in the evening on Monday.

Stevens Pass is not expected to have heavy traffic, although the Department of Transportation notes that could depend on the weather.
