Mass: Cold Snap To Stay Through The Weekend, Snow In Seattle Unlikely

Just how much longer will this cold snap last?

“Only through the end of the weekend,” said KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.

And the Seattle area likely won’t see snow before it’s over.

Chilly temps continue, may fall into 20s in the hollows

It'll begin warming up on Sunday, as a front brings in showers by Sunday evening. And by Monday, it'll be mostly dry and back up into the 50s.

That's right, KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass says those who live in "these low spots, places where the wind doesn't get into, these hollows" could see temperatures in the 20s early Saturday morning.

Deep freeze, snow showers visit western Washington

For most central Puget Sound dwellers, the season's first snow showers were light and didn't create accumulations. This photo was taken in Bellevue on Sunday.

Western Washington is experiencing its coldest temperatures of the season, and it's about to get a lot colder.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the state through Monday night. Southwest Washington's interior, through Olympia and perhaps as far north as Seattle, could see snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches through Monday evening. That's when a second cold front is expected.
