Mayor McGinn calls on Congress to support Obama's jobs plan

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn wants Congress to put aside partisanship and pass President Obama's $450 billion American Jobs Act.

If passed, it could mean big bucks for the state of Washington; The federal government could fund up to $1.8 billion worth of public works projects that it says, would create jobs and improve infrastructure.

Obama nominates Locke as ambassador to China

 WASHINGTON (AP)     President Barack Obama has nominated Commerce Secretary Gary Locke to be the next U.S. ambassador to China. At a White House appearance Wednesday (Video), Obama credited Locke for expanding exports to China and said he has earned the trust of business leaders.

The post is one of the most important diplomatic jobs in government. If confirmed by the Senate, Locke would become the first Chinese-American to serve as the envoy to China.

He Even Brought Doughnuts: Obama Campaigns in Seattle

When you're involved in political campaigns, doughnuts and cupcakes are often close at hand.  President Obama made sure both were available during his Seattle stopover to support Senator Patty Murray's campaign.  On his way to a Seattle couple's home for a backyard 'event' the President made a surprise stop at Top Pot Doughnut's 5th Avenue store, and brought two boxes to his hosts, Cynnie and Erik Foss.  When you're a guest you bring a little something.
