Police say a man with a rifle and 16 rounds of ammunition was arrested Monday night by officers assigned to the Occupy Seattle demonstration at Westlake Park.

Canada joined more than 80 countries around the world this weekend, demonstrating as part of the global wave of protests inspired by the month-long Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City.

Police arrested seven Occupy Seattle demonstrators who refuse to remove their tents Monday from the city's downtown Westlake Park.

Spokesman Mark Jamieson says officers started going through the park at dawn telling campers they had to move their tents so city employees could clean the park. Most campers complied. Those who refused were arrested.

Around the world, protests continue.

Sparked last month by a Canadian anti-consumer group, the “Occupy Wall Street” protest movement is finally making its way north of the border.

The Adbusters Foundation in Vancouver, B.C., is best known in the U.S. for “Buy Nothing Day,” which encourages people to keep their wallets closed on November 25th – the biggest shopping day of the year. Tomorrow, they will also put their forces behind Occupy rallies in Canada, including those in Vancouver and Victoria.

Wall Street protesters avoided a showdown Friday that could have forced them from their Manhattan camp, but they still face the same question that would have confronted them if they had been evicted: Where do they go from here?

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn says he's being patient with the Occupy Seattle protesters camping out for a second week in the downtown Westlake Park.

Occupy Seattle issued its own statement Tuesday saying it will stage a march Saturday in coordination with the Occupy Wall Street protest against corporate power.

More and more homeless people are joining protesters occupying Seattle’s Westlake Park. The Occupy Wall Street movement has a special attraction for people who sleep on the streets.

When you walk through Westlake Park, in the heart of downtown Seattle’s shopping district, you notice the donated tarps and sleeping bags on hand to keep people warm. And there's a big tent where you can get a cheese sandwich or receive first aid.

If you don’t have a home, it seems like a good place to hang out. 

College students have helped propel Occupy Wall Street protests to cities across the Northwest. But the left-wing movement is a tougher sell on some campuses – like conservative Brigham Young University's campus in eastern Idaho.

University of Washington students joined camped-out protesters at Seattle's Westlake Park. A rally at the Idaho Capitol was organized in part by students at Boise State University. And a University of Oregon senior started the Occupy Eugene Facebook page.

Occupy Seattle protesters continue to weather the rain and exposure, with the aid of one structure for storing and distributing food and some first-aid care.

Monday morning, roughly 50 occupiers of Westlake Park milled about while many still slept or huddled against the rain under plastic tarps and whatever other makeshift barriers they could create to stay warm and dry.

One protestor and organizer said she intended to stay in the park indefinitely or until the "National Guard rolls in with tanks."

Protests in Westlake Park are expected to grow in size Friday and Saturday as labor union members and Afghan war protestors join Occupy Seattle protestors.

Union representatives have visited Westlake Park and voiced their support for Occupy Seattle protesters.
