Small quake rattles South Sound

The red arrow on this Google map points to the Lewis County town of Mossyrock, near the epicenter of this morning's 4.2 quake. It was felt all over the South Sound.

A 4.2 earthquake gave a shake to Lewis and Thurston counties just before 8 am this morning. The US Geological Survey reports the small temblor was centered between the town of Morton and Mossyrock.  No injuries or damages have been reported.

Growth Pains as Lewis-McChord Population Booms

If you've been stuck in traffic jams on I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord recently, you're not alone. The back-ups are an almost daily occurrence since thousands of soldiers returned from deployments. The race is on to come up with some long-term solutions, not only to the transportation troubles but to education and social service demands. That's because military analysts predict an additional 14,000 more soldiers and their families will arrive by 2015.
