Seattle Metro Area Ranks 1st for New Jobs, 2nd for Wage Growth

It appears the going is good for the working man in the Puget Sound area. 

The Seattle metro area saw the most new jobs last month, and the second largest wage growth in recent years in spite of the financial crisis, according to new reports.

Washington wages outpaced inflation last year

The average annual wage in Washington grew by 3.6% in 2011. 

The state Employment Security Department says wages outpaced inflation by 0.9 percentage points.

The average annual salary in Washington was $49,894 last year, up from $48,162 in 2010.
